Dysport Injections
Dysport injections specialize in targeting and paralyzing specific muscles in the forehead to prevent the formation of new and existing fine lines and wrinkles. Like Botox injections, Dysport uses a kind of botulinum type A to inhibit muscle movement and contractions. Over time, the injections have the ability to soften already-existing wrinkles making them less noticeable following recurring treatments.
Dysport injections are an FDA-approved treatment for moderate to severe lines between the eyebrows, also known as the glabellar lines, and is recognized as one of the most effective injection treatments in the forehead area due to the formula's effectiveness in spreading across a wide area.
Dysport vs Botox: What's the Difference?
When comparing Botox versus Dysport you will find that it is difficult to differentiate between the two injectables. Both are effective treatments for targeting lines and wrinkles, but each treatment has its own strengths.
Despite the similarities, the largest fundamental difference between the two injectables is found in the formula. For example, Dysport's formula is more diluted which allows it to spread faster across wider areas in the face whereas Botox's formula is more concentrated which increases its effectiveness in smaller areas. This is why Dysport and Botox are often recommended for different areas of the skin.
To be clear, Dysport is usually more practical for a patient interested in a forehead, or eyebrow treatment because of how the formula spreads throughout the treated area; however, there may be some cases where another injectable is recommended depending on the requests and needs of the client.
How long does it take for dysport to work?
Results vary from client to client, but Dysport begins working immediately after treatment and clients normally begin noticing the initial results between 2 and 3 days. However, it can take up to two weeks before you start to see the full results of your Dysport injection treatment.
Care After Dysport Injections
Feel free to resume your regular routine following treatment, but be sure to apply sunscreen (at least SPF-35) every few hours to increase the longevity and durability of your results. Until the neurotoxin has completely absorbed into the muscles, avoid any irritating movements or applied pressure in and around the area you were just treated. Avoid physical activity, alcohol, makeup for 24-48 hours, saunas, massages, facials, or applied pressure to the treated area for at least 2 weeks.
